Team registrations
For sports clubs registering a minimum group of 10 athletes, a fixed discounted rate of €50 per participant is available only from July 15, 2025 to May 31, 2026.
Outside this period, the standard individual registration fee applies to each team member.

COME ARRIVARE
Per raggiungere Vieste è consigliabile utilizzare l’auto.
Arrivando da Nord è consigliabile percorrere l’autostrada A14 e prendere l’uscita di Poggio Imperiale. Proseguite seguendo la Strada Veloce del Gargano, a questo punto arriverete a Vieste.
Da Napoli si può percorrere l’autostrada A16 (NAPOLI-BARI) e prendere l’uscita di Candela, proseguire con la superstrada per Foggia e da qui seguire le indicazioni per Vieste (Manfredonia, Mattinata, Vieste).
Da Sud è consigliabile percorrere l’autostrada A14, e prendere l’uscita di Foggia, poi seguire le indicazioni per Vieste. Questo è il tragitto consigliabile anche dall’aeroporto di Bari, da cui Vieste dista poco più di 2 ore in auto.
INFO TURISTICHE
Vieste è una cittadina nel promontorio del Gargano, a nord della Puglia, che accoglie ogni anno visitatori provenienti da tutto il mondo.
Il successo turistico di Vieste si deve innanzitutto al suo mare e alla sua incredibile costa, ricca di spiagge lunghissime e bellezze naturali come le meravigliose grotte marine e il Pizzomunno , ma anche alla sua storia di cui la cattedrale, il castello, i trabucchi e le Torri costiere ci sono testimoni.
Vieste è apprezzata anche per il suo centro storico di antichissima storia, dai vicoli stretti e dalle casette bianche con le finestre adornate di basilico a strapiombo sul mare, con scorci che tagliano un cielo che riflette l’azzurro del mar adriatico.
Vieste è sicuramente un’ottima base di partenza per scoprire la bellezza della selvaggia del territorio del Gargano, l’imponente Foresta Umbra, la bianca Peschici , Rodi Garganico, il paradiso naturale delle Isole Tremiti, gli antichi sentieri di pellegrinaggio verso Monte Sant’Angelo e i più recenti verso il Santuario di Padre Pio a San Giovanni Rotondo. Durante una vacanza a Vieste avrete modo di riscoprire antiche tradizioni musicali e culinarie.

RULES AND REGULATIONS – BIKE MARATHON GRAN SASSO D’ITALIA 2026
1) Date: Sunday, June 28, 2026
2) Meeting point: Fonte Cerreto, Assergi (L’Aquila) – at the base of the Gran Sasso d’Italia cable car
3) Start times:
Bike Marathon Gran Sasso d’Italia:
6:30 AM: Extreme route
7:00 AM: Medium and Short routes
4) Routes: The 2026 edition of the “Bike Marathon Gran Sasso d’Italia” features three routes:
Short: 90 km (non-competitive).
Note: A valid medical certificate for competitive cycling is mandatory even for the short route.Medium: 110 km (competitive)
Extreme: 135 km (competitive)

5) Start grids:
Red grid: For riders with a red bib, participating in the Extreme route
Green grid: For riders with a green bib, participating in the Medium route
Yellow grid: For riders with a yellow bib, participating in the Short route
Participants starting from a different grid than the one assigned will be disqualified. Riders who change route during the race from their originally declared choice will be excluded from the rankings and awards.
The organization reserves the right to modify the start times and grid assignments due to road opening/closure constraints or other organizational needs.
6) Route selection: The chosen route must be specified at the time of registration. Any changes must be requested by email to info@roadbikemarathon.com no later than June 19, 2026.
7) Eligibility: The Bike Marathon Gran Sasso d’Italia is open to all athletes registered with FCI or affiliated sports promotion bodies with agreements valid for 2026. Participants must be at least 17 years old and hold a valid medical certificate for competitive cycling. Professional, Elite, and Under-23 cyclists are not permitted, except for promotional purposes and only by invitation from the Organizing Committee. These athletes will not be included in the rankings.
Minors aged 17 and up, those over 70, and amateur cyclists with appropriate certification may only participate in the Medium (110 km) and Short (90 km) routes.
The event is by invitation. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any registration at its sole discretion.
Registrations will be rejected for athletes sanctioned with doping bans exceeding 6 months. Non-registered cyclists are not allowed to participate; violators will be removed and reported by law.
Mandatory requirements:
FCI or affiliated body members: competitive cycling medical certificate
Non-FCI residents in Italy: certificate for high cardiovascular commitment sport
Foreign residents: certificate for competitive cycling events, issued in the country of residence
Verification can occur through:
Sports card with DataHealth logo and valid expiry
Valid QRcode-DH
Paper certificate for non-FCI members

Cicloturisti (non-competitive cyclists): Participation allowed for FCI members or other federations under the Consulta Nazionale Ciclismo. Non-members must purchase a €20 daily license (insurance valid only during the event). Foreigners must have a valid federation card or obtain a daily license (competitive or non-competitive) with a valid medical certificate and ethical declaration.
Cyclotourists may only participate in the Short route. They cannot interfere with competitive race outcomes—doing so will result in disqualification of all involved. Professionals and ex-professionals may participate by invitation only and will not be ranked.

10) Entry fee: From 10:00 AM on July 15, 2025:

€45 until 11:59 PM on October 2, 2025 (free t-shirt included)

€55 until May 2, 2026
€60 until June 15, 2026
€65 until June 22, 2026
€70 until 10:00 AM on June 25, 2026, or upon reaching 1,500 participants
€75 for late on-site registration
€10 deposit for chip rental; €5 refunded upon chip return.
Team registrations: Clubs registering at least 10 athletes between July 15, 2025 and May 31, 2026 benefit from a fixed discounted rate of €50 per athlete. Outside this period, the individual fee applies.
The entry fee includes: bib, mechanical assistance (spare parts not included), refreshments, finish line pasta party, showers, race placement info, and race pack. Rankings will be published on the event website.
Short route (non-competitive) is also open to BDC, gravel, e-bike BDC and e-bike MTB. Pasta party and race pack are guaranteed.
11) Replacements: It is possible to replace a participant only if the original participant is already registered, by sending a request via email to info@roadbikemarathon.com. The deadline for participant substitutions is June 19, 2026. Any extensions to this deadline will be posted on the website: https://adriaticseries.it/bike-marathon-gran-sasso-ditalia
12) Inability to participate: If a registered participant is unable to take part in the 2026 Gran Sasso Marathon, the registration fee will not be refunded. If cancellation is communicated via email to info@roadbikemarathon.com by 11:59 PM on June 19, 2026, the paid fee will be valid for the 2027 edition. The 2027 registration will only be valid once the cancellation request has been emailed. This deferred registration is nominal, non-transferable, and valid only for the following year. No refund will be given in case of non-participation, and any increase in the registration fee must be paid.
13) Registration closing: The Gran Sasso d’Italia Marathon has a participant cap agreed annually with the local Prefecture, currently set at 1,500 athletes. Registrations will close definitively by 11:59 PM on June 27, 2026, unless the cap is reached earlier.
14) Bib and race pack distribution: Location: Fonte Cerreto, Assergi (AQ), at the base of the Gran Sasso cable car, Hotel Fiordigigli
Saturday, June 27, 2026: from 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Sunday, June 28, 2026: from 5:00 AM to 6:30 AM
Bibs and race packs can be collected upon presentation of a valid sports license, also by third parties, provided they present a signed authorization and a copy of the participant’s ID (passport, ID card, or driver’s license). Competitive and non-competitive riders must present the original valid medical certificate for competitive cycling.
15) Maximum course time limits: Cut-off time for medium and long routes is 11:15 AM at the junction in Piana di Campo Imperatore (70th km of the medium route, 90th km of the long route). Riders passing after this time will be diverted toward Fonte Cerreto. Maximum finish time: 12:30 PM. After 12:15 PM, roads will reopen to traffic. All athletes must comply with traffic laws throughout the race, especially after 12:15 PM.
16) Maximum assistance time: Refreshment stations, mechanical and medical support will be available until:
Castel del Monte: 10:30 AM
Campo Imperatore: 11:40 AM
Road closures are defined by the Prefecture and remain in place until the official end-of-race vehicle passes.
17) Timing checkpoints: There will be three mandatory electronic checkpoints. Skipping any checkpoint, including the start line, will result in exclusion from the final results. As per UCI and FCI regulations (articles 1.3.010 and 12.1.013 bis on technological fraud), the race jury, with technical support, may conduct random or systematic checks. Non-compliance or refusal will lead to immediate disqualification and reporting to the authorities.
18) Individual and team rankings: All amateur and recreational cyclists will be included in individual rankings based on time, not finish order, except for the top 3 overall, determined by the official finish judge. The top 3 teams by number of registered athletes will receive free bibs for the 2027 edition as follows:
1st place: 5 bibs
2nd place: 4 bibs
3rd place: 3 bibs
The awards ceremony will be held at 1:00 PM in Fonte Cerreto (outside Hotel Fiordigigli) and will honor teams, the top 3 overall, and top 3 per category for the Extreme and Medium routes. Prizes will only be awarded to present athletes.
19) Medical assistance: Medical support includes ambulances with doctors and medical staff. Any hospital transport costs are the responsibility of the participant.
20) Mobile and mechanical assistance: Private vehicles following the race are strictly prohibited. Offenders will be disqualified.
21) Event format: The Gran Sasso d’Italia Marathon is a Gran Fondo road cycling event with competitive and non-competitive routes.
22) Complaints: Must be submitted to the race jury within regulatory time limits and accompanied by the required FCI fee.
23) Event cancellation: If the event is canceled due to force majeure or any cause not attributable to the organizers, no refunds will be issued. However, registration may be transferred to the 2027 edition, subject to a new registration procedure and payment.

25) Rider rights and obligations: 25.1 Bib and frame number must be clearly displayed and not altered.
25.2 A certified, fastened helmet must be worn throughout the race.
25.3 Riders must always respect the highway code. Those overtaken by the broom wagon must proceed without event protection.
25.4 The top 3 finishers of each route must attend the awards ceremony at 1:00 PM.
25.5 Riders not in the grid 10 minutes before the start will be placed in the last grid.
25.6 Riders must carry a flat repair kit. It is also recommended to carry spare clothing and a rain jacket. Participants are responsible for their own equipment and valuables; the organization is not liable for loss or damage.
26) Disqualifications: 26.1 Using someone else’s bib, starting from an unauthorized grid, or other serious violations will result in disqualification for 1 to 5 years or permanently, depending on the severity. 26.2 Littering outside designated refreshment zones will lead to disqualification and exclusion from future editions. 26.3 Disqualifications by FCI may result in removal from the start list at any time. 26.4 The organization may disqualify any athlete for unsportsmanlike conduct. 26.5 E-bikes or bikes with any type of electric/electronic assistance are strictly prohibited.
27) Regulations: All matters not covered by this document will follow the 2026 FCI regulations for non-competitive and amateur cycling.
28) Signature and acceptance: By submitting the online registration form, the participant declares to have read and accepted these regulations and confirms possession of a valid medical certificate and third-party liability insurance. They also consent to the use of their personal data, including for marketing purposes, and authorize the publication of photos and videos taken during the event. The participant also confirms they have no sports or legal sanctions related to doping and agree to pay €25,000 in damages to the Organizing Committee in case of a confirmed positive doping test within 6 months of the event.
29) Timing – chip: Timing will be managed by an Official Timer using chip technology. Participants must have a valid personal chip or rent a daily chip. Chip use rules and conditions are available on the MySdam website. Incorrect or missing chip use will result in exclusion from the rankings.
Daily chip rental is €5, with an additional €5 deposit refunded upon return at the Chip Point within 15 minutes of the race’s end. Only authorized chips listed on the MySdam site are allowed.
